Mary Katzke moved to Alaska in 1979 after completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Texas Austin in Radio-Television-Film. She formed her nonprofit Affinityfilms, Inc. after producing her first documentary film, No Word for Rape and went on to produce and direct over three dozen films including Sea of Oil, About Face, World School, Backing Out of Time and Between Us. In 1992, Mary completed her MFA in Writing and Directing at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She has written many published short essays and stories, frequently contributes to the Opinion page at Anchorage Daily News and has written seven feature film screenplays. Til I Melt is combining all of her passion into one project- Alaska’s indigenous people, the environment, wellness, and film.
