Annie’s mixed media paintings and sculptures explore issues of identity, culture, chemistry, and biology, specifically in terms of change and migration. Recently she has been spending more and more time thinking about Alaska and the North, and what those ideas mean to her identity and artwork. Often we think about the marks humans make on the landscape, but Annie is curious about what marks the landscape makes on us. As a result, her latest series “Locus” examines those notions while also technically pushing the boundaries of her work by making much larger and more complex cast paper pieces than in the past.
