Carey Seward

Carey Seward is a playwright and musician in Fairbanks, Alaska. Theatrical projects written, directed and produced include: What the Hell is Wrong With Me? (2012), (with Amanda Bent

co-wrote book, co-directed and co-produced); Out There Honky Tonkin’ (2013-2015); Cirque Noir Fire Circus (I-X, 2013-2019); Alone in the Dark (2017); and Herstory of Ann Shaxpere (2020).

She has worked with the Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre as a company member over the last 20 years, most recently as Music Director for Macbeth (2019), as well as leading the company as Executive Director (2017-2019). As a teaching artist, Seward works as an Artist in the Schools (2004-2019) teaching drama, playwriting and Shakespeare. She also loved being a part of Theatre Alaska’s AK Writer’s Workshop 2021. Seward is an active playwriting student and participant with the ESPA Primary Stages educational program and member of the International Center for Women Playwrights. She has written about travel for the Jeju Weekly News (South Korea), The Cardamom Diaries (Guatemala), and Only in Your State – Alaska (Travel Blog).

She also fronts rock band “The Poor Choices” and performs Russian grip fire fans with Fairbanks Fire & Flow. Seward is a proud alum of Theater University of ALaska Fairbanks (2005).
